Cave What are these caves ?
This is a tour program where we take you to various types of caves which have been meditation centers for great Indian saints for years.

What are the type of caves ?
Vasishtha Cave is where a great sage "Rishi Vasishtha" had meditated for years together. Till date, people desirous of gaining focus and concentration, visit this cave to meditate. This ancient cave embodies great vibrations, generated over hundreds of centuries, by the strong penance and meditation performed here by great yogis. A small hermitage exists near the cave, where ascetics live. River Ganges flows nearby, with a large sand beach and forests around. A great master lives nearby, who can be met but only at his convenience.

Rudranath Cave is a cave at the confluence of the rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda, where the great sage Narada meditated to get deep knowledge of music and its divine connection. This is a very good place for meditation. The quietude, which one can achieve here is amazing. The cave is located in a gorge and next to the confluence. Nearby is a monastery, where monks live and meditate.

Cave of Rishi Atri is approached by trekking to a point, from where one has to go through a small opening, which once passed, leads one into a large cave with alcoves in it. It is here that Rishi Atri meditated. This cave is situated in a hilly forested area. Experiences here can be very sublimating.

Are there any special caves of interest ?
Patal Bhuwaneshwar is an incredible cave complex, which finds mention, in the ancient Hindu scripture called Skandapuran. Situated on a thickly forested mountain, many of the caves are closed, as over a large period of time, they were hidden and therefore were in a state of disuse. The entrance to the cave is narrow and one has to crawl through a distance of thirty meters, before one reaches a spacious cave with a very high roof. One can natural formations of Ganesh, the thousand petalled lotus, Seshanag (the thousand headed serpent) and almost all the major deities of the Hindu pantheon. There is a rock, which blocks the way to the cave of Sage Markandeya. When one peers through a hole in this rock, one can see the great Sage Markandeya in deep meditation. One level below is the cave in which there are three lingams, representing Shiva (The Destroyer) in the middle, with Brahman (The Creator) and Vishnu (The Preserver) on either side. Water, the color of milk, drips from the rock formation of udders of the celestial cow Kamadhenu, first on Shiva, then Brahman and finally on Vishnu in an unending cycle, which represents destruction, creation, preservation and then destruction again. This cave is a nature’s marvel and it has seven levels, of which only two are accessible with the way to the lower five blocked. It is said that celestial beings come here to pray to God in his endless forms.
