What is 'Ayurveda' ?
Ayurveda in Sanskrit, means the "science of life". Since ancient Indian philosophies recognize human body as a temple of the soul (atman), keeping it in a perfect shape to enable the soul to practice spirituality as well as the material part of the life, in a smooth & perfect manner, the practice of ayurvedic & yogic healing was prescribed.

What does 'Ayurveda' mean to me in my everyday life ?
Due to the hectic and therefore the highly tensed lifestyles of today, the body and in some ways the mind, both inevitably keep getting damaged without a chance torepair and rejuvenate themselves. This is where the highly developed natural &scientific systems of healing, which originated in ancient India, are recognized, as very effective recourses, for attaining, to a great extent, a better state of health and therefore a better state of mind. The ancient science of Ayurveda is totally nature based and herbal in nature. This makes this system of healing, totally free of any toxicity and after or side effects. The principles of Ayurveda were laid down by the ancient Gurus / Rishis ( Spiritual Scientists ) of India around 3500 BC Charaka was the Rishi, who was the most famous physician of the time & is the one, who laid down the laws and immortalised them in the Vedas, in writing.

How does Ayurveda work ?
In Ayurveda, the cures are natural, with nature providing most of the main ingredients vis-a-vis herbs, roots, bark of trees, etc., whose amazing healing properties are harnessed to cure the malady. Ayurvedic physiology is centered on three pillars called vata (wind or air), pita (bile) and kapha (phlegm). These together are called the tridoshas of the body ( a dosha is an element that can cause harm when in excess ). When these three doshas are in a particular proportion in the body, it is healthy. But once they are out of equilibrium, the disease takes root.

How do I pursue Ayurveda treatment ?
This delicate balance varies from person to person. Ayurvedic treatment therefore has to be individually dispensed to get the trine (three) in harmony. The patient’s diet is also controlled to get the maximum benefits. The fundamental objective of Ayurveda is to uproot the disease from its origin, rather than temporarily cure or suppress it. This unique feature is what distinguishes Ayurveda from other forms of medicine.

What are the features and benefits of Ayurveda treatment ?
Ayurveda treats the whole instead of merely the part. The general treatment, which does not need individual diagnosis is the Rejuvenation Therapy, which actually makes one feel younger, vigorous and relieves one of body aches & tension. This is done by a special way of massage, using herbal oils with most exotic & rare herbal ingredients, which do not come cheaply. These oils are expensive and most effective. Ayurveda’s medicinal properties are so effective, that problems like lumbago, slipped disc, hypertension, arthritis, spondylitis, paralysis, obesity, sinusitis, migraine, sleeplessness, premature ageing and many more get cured. Central to some ayurvedic treatments is the process of Panch Karma, which is a five fold purification therapy for complete cleansing of the body. This therapy is so complete in nature, that it can be administered to both the healthy & the sick. Panch Karma therapy broadly encompasses the following :
I   : SNEHANA ( Oleation )
I I : SWEDANA ( Sudation )
III : VAMANA ( Emesis )
IV : VIRECHANA ( Purgation )
V  : VASTI ( Enema Therapy )

Does Ayurveda completely treat the ailments ?
Ayurvedic treatment does not guarantee permanent cure of any ailments. It is not possible in the course of a 7, 14 or 21 days treatment to completely root out a malady, especially the ones that have become chronic in nature. Sansarjana Karma or a special post Panch Karma dietary regimen and a particular disciplined daily routine for a specified period is to be undertaken to yield long lasting results.
