What is the importance of Yoga ?
Yoga, literally means Union." It is an ancient Indian discipline, which seeks to unite the soul (atman) with the universal soul or God (paramatman), through mental and physical training. Yoga is of eight types but the one known most in the west is called "Hathayoga." It is through the training of the body and the mind that yoga helps one attain the aforesaid union. Yogic exercises or asanas remove physical ailments and consequently remove mental afflictions to make this temple called body, a perfect vehicle for the soul to journey in, to its natural union with the supreme soul.

Pranayama is the cardinal aspect of our whole life; not because we get
oxygen and eliminate carbon-di-oxide but because it vitalizes the autonomic
nervous system. When one is tense, ones breath is shallow, short, irregular
and uncontrolled, therefore Yoga training starts with teaching of proper
yogic breathing or "Pranayama." Pranayama helps to calm the mind
and allows the subject to go deep into meditational state. At this stage the
life forces of the physical body come into harmony and balance to eradicate
the disease process and normalize health. Pranayama if done correctly and
regularly helps in quietening the mind, which further leads to the perfect
