Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparti is one of the best known and widely followed of the saints of India. Famous for having immense miraculous powers of healing, producing holy ash and other objects out of thin air, etc., Sai Baba comes across as a great philanthropic saint, who has set up a free hospital, school and a college, where thousands receive the benefits, free of cost. A township called Prasanthi Nilayam is built around Baba’s ashram. Cleanliness and discipline are the hallmark of the ashram, where Baba gives darshan (to meet) to his devotees & public in general in the morning and evening. The devotional music played in the evening is really soul stirring. A must for people who want to witness faith, devotion, miracles and get focussed on the supreme soul.
Tiruvannamalai is a place, in whose vicinity
lies the famous Arunachala Hill, which is 2668 feet above the sea level. It is a
place of pilgrimage for millions. The copper coloured hill is taken as a
representation of Lord Shiva. A great sage "Gautama Rishi," had his ashram here
in times of great antiquity. Due to the powerful vibrations, which exist here,
many yogis have done their penance & yogic practices here and the one of the
greatest sage of our times "Ramana Maharishi" also made this place his abode.
The feeling that one gets here is unparalleled, as meditation & a stay here
& visits to the Ramana Ashram & the ashram of Yogi Ram Surat Kumar are
really uplifting.Kanchi also known as the Varanasi of the south, is a very ancient city, was one of the greatest centers of learning in ancient & medieval India. Students from as far as China, Siam, Fiji, etc. came here to learn art, philosophy, astrology, etc. It is recorded that even Lord Buddha visited this great seat of learning. It is here in Kanchi, that the great sage Adi Guru Sankaracharya established one of the four Mutts or seats of spiritual learning in India. The tradition continues and the present Sankaracharya, who is perhaps one of the most learned men in the world, heads the monastery. It is a great experience to visit the monastery and meet the masters. A plethora of temples abound in this city, which has some of the best architectural wonders of India.
Varanasi ,the oldest living city on the face of the Earth, situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges, cannot be described, it can only be experienced. It has been the religious capital of Hinduism from time immemorial and was known by the name of Kashi meaning "the city that illuminates." The city is said to resting on the trident of Lord Shiva. Crowded with temples and it’s labyrinth of streets, the city has always attracted both pilgrims and tourists, who come to experience the strange magnetism if this city. Bearing the brunt of continuos Islamic invasions & destruction, the city continued to grow and one can still feel it move. Apart from the normal visits to various temples, we arrange visits to some ashrams, where yogis live & remain in meditation. Lord Buddha also visited this city and gave his first sermon at Sarnath, which is very near Varanasi.
Kumbha Mela is a gathering of millions of sadhus, yogis & mendicants from various schools or sects called akharas. Each school is headed by a master and they all arrive at an appointed place every 6 years & 12 years to congregate and bathe in the holy rivers at an appointed time. This time is fixed as per astrology & astronomy. One can see various yogic feats being performed by the yogis and some can fill one with amazement. One can describe it as a buffet of yogis. Millions, including commoners converge on the cities of Haridwar, Varanasi, Allahabad, Nasik & Ujjain to pray with great faith and also show reverence to the yogis & the monks, who otherwise remain out of public view. It is an incredible gathering of human beings, unparalleled in numbers & the vibration, anywhere in the world.
